If life experience is the source from which inspiration arises, Levinson's life is an example. He's lived on the edge of a knife for too many years, forging through a succesion of adrenalin pumping careers including medic , firefighter and a 25 year career in law enforcement with assignments to specialized units including, homicide, narcotics and counter-terrorism. And all the while, putting what he has seen and felt down on paper.
Novelist, songwriter and musician, Levinson has drawn from his experiences to craft visceral songs crossing musical genres from Punk Rock to Country. Most recently, Howard has been recording his songs in Nashville with studio musicians who have worked with Tim McGraw, Bonnie Raitt, Montgomery Gentry and the Nitty Gritty Dirt band, just to name a few.
He recently released his second novel, "The Tapping" a cold-case murder mystery that mixes the gripping, white knuckle forensics of a Patricia Cornwell novel with the supernatural bend of a Stephen King thriller. Howard's first novel, "The Mercury Vapor Lamp Experience-A Story of Aspergers and Aliens" takes the reader on a ride where alternate realities, biological terrorism and the fate of our planet's very existence is left to a group of unlikely heroes.
