Living a Life On The Edge

Hey there! I’m Howard Levinson. Welcome to my website. I hope you enjoy the time here.

There are songs and novels to check out; and the story that led me to purge my demons by putting pen to paper.

Where do writers get their ideas? In my case, it has been a provocative and sometimes tortuous odyssey in search of  “the rush.” My career path as a paramedic,  firefighter, chiropractic physician, police officer, forensic specialist, homicide investigator, narcotics agent, organized crime and anti-terrorism task force detective assured that significant quantities of adrenaline coursed through my veins. It led me to do, see and feel many things that are better left undone, unseen and unfelt. On the upside, these experiences evolved into an abundant palette,  from which I have based my songs, two books and an ongoing blog.

You can listen to songs and read excerpts from some of my work.  As with the diverse life I’ve led,  the stories and novels are in multiple genres ranging from sci-fi to mystery and murder; to punk  rock  and country. If so inclined, you can read my bio to learn more about my journey from medic to cop to songwriter and novelist. There’s a contact page to send me a note.

There are book and song page stores, if you want to own a piece of this journey.  Follow my blog and read about my insights and ideas on things I think are worthy of comment. My views are often markedly different because there ain’t nobody who has lived a life like mine, probably for damn good reasons.

“The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague.
Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?”

-Edgar Allan Poe-

My Perspective: “There are people who can tap into that spirit realm between life and  death. It is weird, frightening and damn interesting all at the same time.”

“My week beats your year.”

-Lou Reed-

My Perspective:  “It’s really not ego-maniacal if true. In Lou’s case, it was true.”
